The Reedsport / Winchester Bay Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer partnership
of business and professional people in the Reedsport, Winchester Bay, Gardiner,
Scottsburg and Loon Lake areas working together to build a healthy economy and
to improve the quality of life in our area.
In accomplishing its goals, your Chamber serves as: visitor information service,
business spokesperson, public relations representative, and government relations
specialist.
Chamber support identifies a member as a contributing partner in the business
community, and memberships are available in the following categories: Associate,
Retail Business, General Business, Large Business, Major Business and
Governmental.
The Chamber was formed in 1968 and is one of over 80 active Chambers in the
state of Oregon. This Chamber belongs to Douglas County Chambers of Commerce,
Oregon Lodging Association, Oregon Chamber Executives, Oregon Coast Music
Association, Oregon Coast Visitors Association, Oregon Coast Environments
Awareness Network (OCEAN), and the Southern Oregon Visitors Association (SOVA).
The Chamber replies to thousands of inquiries about our area, about your
business and you. Every inquiry is answered fully, promptly and courteously,
creating favorable impressions and building esteem for our business and you -
truly the "front door" of our community.
The Chamber manages a visitor information center located in the Oregon Dunes
National Recreation Area office at the intersection of Highways 101 and 38. The
foyer is open 24-hours a day for visitors to check maps and obtain information
about our area. Chamber members are welcome to display their business brochures
for visitors to enjoy.
The Chamber takes an active role in sponsoring community events. Please have a
look at our Events Calendar Your membership and involvement in the Reedsport / Winchester Bay Chamber of
Commerce guarantees your influence in the shape of our community. As a member of
the Chamber, you are a vital part of the area's future, and together we can grow
and prosper.
Chamber advertising brings more visitors to the community, which in turn benefits
the local economy. The Chamber Visitor Center is the first place visitors and
newcomers to our area stop to get information about the community. We gladly
refer these visitors to our member businesses and also distribute members
brochures.
Relocation Packets
The Chamber sends out hundreds of relocation packets each year to prospective
newcomers to town. For anyone interested in settling in our area this large
packet of information gives a complete community profile as well as guides on
dining, lodging, churches, realtors, apartment listings, visitor brochures,
business services, and information on schools and medical services.
Web Page
The Chamber has a comprehensive web site that showcases the many amenities our
area has to offer. We list all chamber members on the membership pages under
business classifications and if you have a web page of your own, it can be
easily linked to our site. Thousands of people access our web page making your
business information available world-wide 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Newsletter
Our quarterly newsletter keeps members abreast of Chamber business, meetings,
area news and other items of interest. Members can also utilize our Bulk Mail
permit for the cost of their postage. Members must adhere to postal regulations
when sorting their mail and a member of our staff must oversee the process.
Meetings
The Chamber holds two Board Meetings per month (the second and fourth Thursday),
except during November and December when we have only one meeting per month, on
the second Thursday. General Membership meetings are held twice a year and
are announced in the newsletter and local newspapers. Our Annual Dinner is held in
January and is open to all members. New Board Members and Officers for the coming
year are announced, and special awards are presented including the Business Person of the
Year.
Ambassadors
The Chamber Ambassadors greet new businesses to town, schedule ribbon cutting
ceremonies and often visit established businesses with coffee and donuts.
By learning about your business, they are able to pass that information on to
other members of the community for networking, and offer publicity through local newspapers and
our own newsletter.
Member Decal
Members receive an annual decal to display in the window of their business. Many
people rely on these decals when choosing a place to shop.
